My name’s Hal Coleman, and I’m the owner of Norfolk Exterminating in Alpharetta, GA.  I’ve actually been in the industry for 33 years… I graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in entomology and got into the pest control industry and I worked for the Department of Agriculture for the first ten years as a structural pest control regulatory inspector.  Then I didn’t make any money so I went to work at a large independent pest control company for three years learning the private side of the business. I spent the first three years in service doing termite inspections and pest control and the next three years in sales.

I decided I wanted to go into business for myself.  So in 1990 I went into business for myself as a one-man operator and started drilling holes in concrete and digging in the dirt in the hot sun and felt like I’d probably made the biggest mistake of my life.  But I hung with it and so I spent 16 years trying to grow that business and doing okay.  I really grew the business because I was a good guy, a nice guy to do business with, an honest guy and had honest people working for me.  We sat around and the phone rang… well we got it to a point where it just didn’t ring enough and I decided, actually quite a few years ago I wanted to really take another step so I hired a commercial advertising agency to come in and really grow my business for me. 

They grew one thing for me, they grew their wallet.  They took me for thousands of dollars and they were going to just set my business on fire and turn me around and nothing ever happened.  So the Yellow Pages guy was going to do the same thing.  He was going to grow my business for me.  Nothing ever happened.  I really got discouraged and as we grew and got bigger we tended to slow down, kind of hit a wall.  I spent two years as the president of Georgia Pest Control Association.  That took me away from my business.

About a year ago I got a letter.  This wild sales letter in the mail from a guy named Chet Rowland who talked about how he could turn my business around and grow it for me and I said, I have never gotten an email from anybody quite like this.  It was really unusual, so I followed up with it.  I sent for some information and I ordered this program, bought it, and felt like it was probably another mistake that I was making.  But I was kind of desperate to find some answers.  When I got Chet Rowland’s program and got into it and started to listen to it and started implementing Chet’s systems and Chet’s ideas, my phone started to ring and the light bulbs kind of came on in my head that this guy was the first guy I had ever run into that really knew the secrets to running a pest control company, or any kind of company really.

He knew the things that all the Yellow Pages guys and advertising agents and all of the other people I’d listened to didn’t know.  He knew how to make people stand up and call me and do business with me.  So my business is on its way to great growth right now.  I’ve got so many ideas, I listen to Chet’s CDs every day.  I’m implementing more and more and more things and thank God I ran into Chet Rowland because he has actually changed my business and changed my life.  I am really excited about what the next few years have to offer.

I must apologize for being out of the loop for a while.

My father had a heart attack, I fired two long time employees and my plate has been over flowing.

I want to take this time to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to reveal to me the many misconceptions I have had about being in the Pest Control business.

I received the Full PCO Millionaire Kit in January 2006(if you are going to GO BIG, you have to get off your butt and buy the Full Kit). I could not believe how much information you sent to me.

I only slept about 4 hours a day until I had read everything. I quit listening to all the worthless radio stations as I rode in my truck because I only wanted to listen to your audio cd's over and over again.

I started my pest control business in 1989 in a small town in Tennessee. I was the "Best Bug Man in Town" , but, no one cared.
Fast forward to 2005. I had an office in my home, four (4) technicians and worked 80 hours a week myself. I grossed $250,000.00 in 2005. Net, well I am ashamed to tell.

I opened the Full PCO Millionaire Kit (which arrived in 2 Days) in January 2006 and began something that, at that time, I did not know would change my life for ever.
Chet, your first task for me was my yellow page ads. I will never look at a yellow page ad or the worthless salesman, that comes with it, the same way again. These so called yellow page ad executives are not our friends! I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about doing an ad like yours Chet. I changed to your type of direct response ad in the Yellow Book, our Twin Lakes book and also in our area wide Book. But, in our local phone company book I kept the same old "image builder" ad which I know now was a BIG MISTAKE. The other phone book ads I ran (your ad) ate this ads' lunch! This was a great lesson learned. By the way, the reason I know how the ads did, was, because I used your system to track the ads.

I did a home show in February 2006 and you gave me great advice. I handed out a flier which look just like my successful full page yellow page ads. The flier was fan folded so the bold headline was facing up and on the other side was your one of a kind "Bonus Certificate", Needless to say I spent $190.00 on this handout but I sold $28,000.00 worth of work from it alone> This is impressive by any standard.

I got me a building on a highly visible street in our town. I used your system of free recording to hire the most awesome Secretary to run my office. I started using your bold guarantees, your system of treatments, your systems for tracking, your advice for handling employees and RAISED my prices. Nashville's channel 4 News (85 miles away) has even branded me as an Expert when it comes to "Bugs". Everyone cares that I am the "Best Bug Man in Town" now!

Anyway, here it is October 2006. As I mentioned earlier my father had a heart attack and I spent a lot of time with him and mom but he is doing well now. I fired two long time technicians because they would not conform to my new way of doing things (Chet's way). But, something just short of a miracle took place, here it is October and my business has done over $360,000.00 in business. Our projected gross by the end of 2006 is $420,000.00. To make a long story short, during the several months my father was sick I did not work but 8 or 10 days. My business continued to grow (with your systems I have implemented) and my plate has been over flowing with money and success! My quality of life and my family's life has never been so good!

Just giving you an update on our results. Total new sales for 2006 were $109,230. The total new sales for MAY 2007 were $104,677. That is not THROUGH May 2007. In 1 month we matched an entire year's figures.

Obviously, we are very excited with these results. THere is no way will not gross over 1 million in 2007. Last year we grossed just over $400,000. Thanks Again Chet......Actually Thanks a MILLION!!!

Hey Chet,

I'm writing this from one of your Multi- million dollar condo's here in Clearwater, I just finished the bonus day after the Office Field Trip and to say that I'm exhausted doesn't even come close to describing the way I feel. As usual you way over delivered and gave so much more than what I paid for. You peeled back the cover and let us see every thing ,you held nothing back ,you left no question unanswered. You gave from the heart. I thank God I have enough common sense not to have missed this once in a lifetime opportunity.

To tell you the truth the main reason I didn't miss the event was because of something you said on one of the coaching calls a couple of months ago. You said the people who come to the Office Field Trip would never be the same, as business people or in there personal life. For some reason that struck a cord with me. I'm so ready to move to the next level with my life and business and over the last 3 days you gave me the tools to do just that.

  1. Massive Action

    I remember you telling me, I have to take massive action.  You can come to these meetings time and time again, but if you're not going to take massive action, you're not going to get massive results. That was totally one of the biggest motivators that I heard because I wanted a life like yours. And I knew I had to do everything you told me to do.   I wanted to only come in one day a month, but I knew it was going to take massive action and a lot of hard work.    Being a quick start, it was really hard for me to take action and follow through, but I knew I wanted your results,   So That's what I've done. I've taken massive action, in not only  my business, but my personal life. I've read approximately two books per month on self-improvement, and improvement in my business for two years now, I don’t surround myself with any negative people.  As my life has changed so has my friends and business.  They are both a reflection of my life.  Thank you

  2. Tell Your Story

    You told me to “ just tell your story”. That will be your  biggest selling point. That's who you are. That's how you're going to reach people, by telling your story.  I took your advice and try to tell my story  in a lot of my marketing pieces, I just tell my story. I used to be embarrassed with my story, but what I found is that's actually one of my largest assets and I really appreciate you telling me that.  It's helped me overcome my low self-esteem. I'm actually now proud of my story. That is who I am.

  3. Systemize Your Business

    I remember going through your business there in Tampa last year and seeing how you systemize everything. I got quite a few ideas like posting things on the walls. The biggest thing, though, is you told me to systemize every aspect of my business. By systemizing, you're not allowing any employees to hold you hostage. If they quit, somebody can go in, read exactly their job description. I've gone through, and we are completely systemizing our business. Many of my job descriptions are in writing.  I've got it down to, where to enter something in the computer, you click this, you hit that, you go to this program, you click this. So, it's like step-by-step, so if any one of my employees were to quit, that's okay, because I can replace them  easier without as much confusion and training.

  4. The next way that you have helped me is to post systems on the walls. What I've done with that is, I have created numerous checklists that go on the wall, so that when I come into the office, I don't have to ask, did you send out a thank you card, did you do this, did you do that and start questioning my employees. All I have to do now is go to the wall, look at the checklist and I'll know, did you do your job or did you not.  You told me when we were back in Florida  that you need to post things on the wall, so not only will  I see it posted on the wall, however all of my employees at any time can go there and look and know who's doing their job, and who's not doing their job. That has been huge. That has freed me up to where I no longer stress wondering if my employees are doing their job.

  5. One of the things that I wanted to get from you this year was how to free myself from going into my business everyday. I had gotten off my truck, I wasn't going out in the field to work, but what I was doing was I was coming into my office everyday and all I did was created another job title for myself. I was still working all the time. People were still relying on me to make decisions on a daily basis. My goal when I asked you this year  to be a master mentor for me, was I wanted to get to where you are, only come in 1 day a month to my business. I haven't quite accomplished that, however what I have accomplished is I have gotten it to the point where I'm only coming in 1 day a week and basically coming in to the I-power meetings with my employees. I have a master mind meeting  that I go to where we work on the business with my team leaders and also I'm going over the numbers, how we did we do this week, what do we correct, and so on. So, I haven't quite accomplished the 1 day a month, but I'm working on it. That is my goal for next year and the rest of this year, by next year I will have it down to 1 day a month.

  6. Probably the biggest thing that you've  helped me with is having you believe in me.   I will never forget at bootcamp You told my project manager after I was up in front of everybody when we were doing the better your best finalist.  You told him, you said "You know you need to go hook up with Eric Wenger, he is going somewhere,  he has more talent then anyone up there.  That's when he told you that he actually worked for me, that he was one of my project managers.  You told him that he needs to listen to everything I say because I am going somewhere. I think the biggest thing that that meant to me was I had someone that was believing in me that I could achieve anything I want to do, because you knew I could do it.

  7. Numbers - I have gone through your program a couple of times.  I was not tracking any of my numbers.  Now I have tracking for all of my marketing, jobs performance and all my overhead expenses etc.  I am still working on improving my number system.  by tracking my numbers I was able to lower overhead, track equipment and materials, and increased profits,  my contest is March, April,  May  I have increased my profits from $9000 in those three months to $120,000 after all overhead and expenses. my gross income went from $155,000 to 366,000  I have the numbers certified by a CPA for the contest.  You have had the largest influence in my tracking my numbers.

  8. So, to sum it up you basically have been more then a mentor to me. I have listened to everything that you said and it has become a part of my life."
